About me
I’m Makena (she/her). I can’t wait to meet you.
Finding a therapist that you connect with is vital to an effective and expansive experience. That is why I think knowing a bit about who your therapist is before starting the work can really help. I am someone who is constantly working to challenge myself to be the best I can be, both personally and professionally. I have genuine curiosity for people and their experiences and always assume that there is a reason for most behaviours.
“to be free we must be able to question the ways our own history defines us”

THERAPY
Finding the right therapist can be challenging. I am here to support diverse individuals in whatever life stage they are currently in. I foster a space where clients can share their experiences openly without fear or judgment. I understand that each person's suffering looks different, and thus, I remain curious and open to understanding each of my clients' experiences. I always maintain a culturally sensitive and trauma-informed lens in my practice. I encourage introspection and self-compassion and hope that through our sessions, clients can eventually support themselves. Being client-centered is fundamental in my practice. I am dynamic and regularly adjust my methods when needed to ensure I provide the best possible care for each person I work with. Gaining your trust so that you feel accepted, encouraged, and supported is the main priority I have as a clinician.

Join me; professional listener, and amateur advice taker, as I engage in thought provoking discussions with people with lived experiences. Each week, a new guest will be brought on to explore topics ranging from mental health, social issues, holistic well-being and so much more.
As a social worker, therapist, friend, and most importantly human, I hope that you will feel understood, inspired and supported while you listen.
And of course Don’t Worry, It’s Confidential.
